About The Basics Plus Wrestling System:
The Basics Plus Wrestling System is the most innovative wrestling curriculum available, combining two methods of instruction and training into a comprehensive cutting edge system.
The Basics System of Instruction and Learning focuses on teaching individual skills and techniques, while improving the overall athleticism of young and beginning wrestlers. The Basics System provides the foundation for learning more complex skills and concepts as a wrestler progresses.
The Plus System of Wrestling is designed to meet the needs of intermediate and advanced wrestlers. Rather than focusing on individual skills and techniques, the Plus System emphasizes concepts and strategies. Wrestlers go beyond simple techniques, instead learning more advanced combinations and series- from set up to finish. Here, wrestlers review the basics and then move on to more complex techniques that allow them to formulate and enhance a style of wrestling most suitable to their skill set.
Highlights of the Basics Plus Training Program
A Cutting Edge Training Program Based on Sports Science:
The Basics Plus Wrestling Camp was developed using the latest in sport science (motor learning, motor development, sport psychology, nutrition, strength and conditioning) to maximize the progression of each individual wrestler. A dynamic student-centered approach allows wrestlers of various learning and wrestling styles to be accommodated and taught according to their skill level, while learning how to prepare their mind and body for optimal performance. Daily workshops cover goal setting, nutrition, strength and conditioning training, and many other performance topics.
Emphasis on a Perpetual Learning Experience:
The Basics Plus Wrestling Camp is designed to provide athletes with the tools that they will need to succeed at the sport of wrestling and beyond. In fact, the goal is not only to instill the knowledge into each individual athlete that he/she needs to continue to progress long after his/her final day of camp but also to stimulate the interest and curiosity of all participants so that they will seek and yearn for more (perpetual learning).
Learning Aids for Advanced Retention of Material:
Each athlete will learn to train more efficiently and effectively so that they can reach their own potential. Special learning aids are provided to assist with the learning and retention of material. All 10 and 12 Day PLUS participants receive a Performance Journal and Binder to take notes and record daily goals.
About the Basics Plus Wrestling Staff:
All Basics Plus Wrestling Staff Members are trained to understand and implement the Basics Plus Wrestling System. Additionally, staff members attend a full orientation to understand the goals, expectations, and structure of the camp.
