Basics Camp Overview
The Basics System of Instruction and Learning focuses on teaching individual skills and techniques, while improving the overall athleticism of young and beginning wrestlers. The Basics System provides the foundation for learning more complex skills and concepts as a wrestler progresses.
Objectives for all Basics Camp Wrestlers:
- Develop a double leg takedown (attack to middle of body)
- Develop an effective leg attack to each side of the body
- Develop 2 effective set-ups to each leg attack
- Develop 2 effective finishes to each attack
- Control 3 tie-up positions (inside tie position, elbow tie, collar tie)
- Learn two effective break downs and three pinning combinations
- Learn basic defense from bottom position
- Learn 3 effective escapes
5 Day Basics Commuter Camp (10 sessions of instruction)
Students attending this camp will learn to be proficient in all three positions of wrestling (Neutral, Top, & Bottom) by building a solid foundation of technique. They will attend two sessions each day.
- Morning Session - Neutral Position Instruction
- Afternoon Session - Top & Bottom Position Instruction
